love is in the air

I'm so excited you're here! I can't wait to get together for our engagement or couples session! In this post you'll find some tips and tricks for preparing for your session with me. But remember the most important part: This session is all about YOU TWO! No matter what you wear, you'll be rockin this! And I'll make you look aaaamazing no matter what. Check out my Pinterest board below for some outfit inspo!

coordinating outfits

Avoid being matchy-matchy - instead pick a staple color and coordinate your outfits around that. If you're wearing a red flowy dress with a jean jacket, have your partner wear jeans and a red flannel. This helps with the feel of being 'matchy' without being cheesy! And with that outfit you get the benefit of added layers to add some movement to your photos.

Some of my favorite colors for each season:

Spring: light denim, pastels, whites, greens, blues.

Summer: whites, bright colors (no neon), pinks, blues.

Fall: mustard yellows, oranges, reds, browns, light denim.

Winter: Deep reds, purples, dark denim, blacks, booties, jewel tones.

outfit changes

A lot of couples opt for multiple outfit choices and to this I always say YES! Most do one casual and one more formal option. Or maybe you're really into your favorite spots team (Go Hawks), wear a jersey or a hat! Just be aware you may need to either change in your car or in a bush if we're somewhere without a bathroom - I'll keep watch!

layering

Something as simple as layering can add so much movement and depth to your photos. Adding in a light jacket, flannel, cardigan, scarf - you name it! During the warmer months its nice to start off in layers and take them off as it gets warm. The opposite is true during the colder months - I always say start off in your dress and then lets change into warmer clothes with layers!

its all above the small details

For engagement sessions obviously we are showcasing that beautiful ring of yours! But think of other small details - maybe its your favorite snack, an inside joke you two share that is tangible, a bottle of champagne to pop (uhh please do this!) or even your puppies! I looooooove adding some fun pet elements to your sessions, just make sure we can either bring them to the car after some shots or bring a friend/family with to hang with them if its too hot for them to be in the car.
